The theory and practice of diplomacy

As taught Spring Semester 2011. This module focuses on the changing nature of diplomatic practice, together with the range of conceptual tools that seek to explain this international activity. Its focus is contemporary. It provides a political analysis of new developments such as the public diplomacy, the decline of resident embassies and foreign ministries, and the role of regional/multinational organisations and summitry. It also encourages students to consider future theoretical and practical developments in this field. Module Codes: M14322 (20 credits), M14323 (15 credits) Suitable for study at: Postgraduate Level Dr Pauline Eadie, School of Politics and International Relations Pauline Eadie is a University Lecturer at the University of Nottingham. She is a member of BISA and is Co-Director of the Institute of Asia Pacific Studies (IAPS) at the University of Nottingham. She is also Exchange Officer for the School of Politics and International Relations. She has a PhD in International Relations from Nottingham Trent University.
