Focus groups carried out under ethics application and approval: CS-2023-R21 All participants have been anonymised by assigning pseudonyms. Locations have also been pseudonymised. Any information that raised a safeguarding concern was reported to and dealt with by the gatekeeping educational institution. These details have been kept in the transcript to ensure the accuracy of the conversations. Informed consent was gathered for each participant in addition to the consent of the gatekeeping institution due to sessions taking place in school hours. Due to the sensitive nature of the topics being discussed, participants were informed that they should only contribute where comfortable and were provided with a full participant information sheet informing them of their rights and procedures as well as participant information pack providing the same information in a more age appropriate manner. These contained contact information for charities and NGO’s that could support in additional to the gatekeeping institution if needed.
